Situated in the heart of Pretoria, Gauteng Funeral Services lies in the historical multiracial suburb of Marabastad. Ironically Gauteng Funeral Services was born when the country was undergoing major transformation and our motto “Born to serve the nation” was appropriate and gave the company a sense of patriotism and a need to be of service to the nation. One of our values are to strive and deliver service that exceeds the expectations of each family we serve. Gauteng Funeral Services gave funeral undertaking a whole new meaning by providing the community with more than just a funeral service. GFS provides funeral packages which includes different aspects of catering. Our aim was to let the family deal with their grief while we take care of the rest.

In the buzz of the capital is a quiet holding dating back to the early 1900’s where the staff of GFS come together with one main purpose: to serve the nation with the three C’s. Care, Courtesy and Compassion is the mission of Gauteng Funeral Service to facilitate meaningful ways for families to grieve their loss and celebrate the memories of their loved ones. We will do this by providing information, options, and guidance with the highest level of competence, courtesy and compassion. We will provide respectful and affordable funeral, cremation and memorial services, always striving to be the best in what we do.
Our History
In 1994 the country underwent major transformation from white supremacy to democracy. The world’s eyes were on South Africa. How was black and white going to unite as a nation after more than 40 years of apartheid?
It was our president Nelson Mandela who inspired the nation to reconcile and be part of the new South Africa. Mr Avinash Mooloo was lucky enough to be part of this new promising country and he did not choose funeral service as a career……… It chose him.
Filled with a strong sense of pride, he wanted to serve this new nation, this multicultural community and that was when Gauteng Funeral Services was born. The name Gauteng meaning “Place of Gold” in Sesotho and thus signifying that the wealth of the nation lies in the very precious lives of its people.
GFS wanted to serve a new nation after so much of pain and unnecessary loss of lives. GFS wanted to provide dignified funeral services to each precious life. Striving for service excellence but never losing sight of the family’s great loss.
GFS was a pioneer in taking funeral services a step further. That is by providing funeral packages complete with catering. GFS strongly believes that the family needs this time to grieve their loss while GFS takes utmost care of the rest. The Director himself is filled with the sense of service to God and all Mankind.
He is taught to respect and to treat each family as if they were ROYALTY, no matter what their socio-economic status, and to serve each family with dignity and professionalism to which he strives to maintain daily in this Profession.
