In 1994 the country underwent major transformation from white supremacy to democracy. The world’s eyes were on South Africa. How was black and white going to unite as a nation after more than 40 years of apartheid?

It was our president Nelson Mandela who inspired the nation to reconcile and be part of the new South Africa. Mr Avinash Mooloo was lucky enough to be part of this new promising country and he did not choose funeral service as a career……… It chose him.

Filled with a strong sense of pride he wanted to serve this new nation, this multicultural community and that was when Gauteng Funeral Services was born. The name Gauteng meaning “Place of Gold” in Sesotho   and   thus signifying that the wealth of the nation lies in the very precious lives of its people.

GFS wanted to serve a new nation after so much of pain and unnecessary loss of lives. GFS wanted to provide dignified funeral services to each precious life.  Striving for service excellence but never losing sight of the family’s great loss.

GFS was pioneers in taking funeral services a step further. That is by providing funeral packages complete with catering. GFS strongly believes that the family needs this time to grieve their loss while GFS takes utmost care of the rest. The Director himself is filled with the sense of service to God and all Mankind
